Chief Financial Officer - General Construction

About the role

The company is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team in Mobile, AL. Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will provide financial vision, operational insight, and strategic leadership to support the firm’s growth from $70M to $100M.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all accounting, finance, and financial reporting functions.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and long‑range financial planning.
• Manage work‑in‑progress reporting, job costing, percentage‑of‑completion accounting, and performance analysis.
• Direct banking relationships, bonding capacity, insurance programs, audits, and tax coordination.
• Develop financial strategies that support sustainable growth and operational excellence.
• Partner with executive leadership to improve profitability and business planning.
• Monitor key financial metrics and provide actionable recommendations.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and reporting capabilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
• Support strategic initiatives, capital planning, and long‑term objectives.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership in commercial construction.
• Prior experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or equivalent for a general contractor.
• Deep understanding of construction accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage‑of‑completion methods.
• Proven ability to translate financial data into strategic business decisions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to advise ownership and executive teams.
