Chief Engineer – Hotel Maintenance

About the role

The Chief Engineer will lead all general and preventative maintenance activities for the hotel, ensuring guest service excellence and sustainability standards are met throughout the property.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support maintenance associates in line with brand standards and core values.
• Manage bids, quotes and contracts for third‑party vendors and oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans.
• Perform and supervise repairs such as sheetrock, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
• Troubleshoot kitchen equipment, repair heating/cooling pumps, install and program televisions, and maintain life‑safety systems.
• Maintain accurate preventative‑maintenance records, ensure compliance with local, state and federal codes, and uphold building exterior curb appeal following sustainability guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma or trade‑school coursework in a related field (preferred).
• Previous supervisory experience in engineering or maintenance, or equivalent training.
• HVAC certification is required; additional certifications may be required based on local regulations.
