Chief Electrical Estimator

About the role

The company, a leading electrical contractor in the Southeast, is looking for a Chief Electrical Estimator to join its Ocoee, FL office. This senior position will lead the estimating team, delivering accurate and competitive cost proposals for commercial, institutional, hospitality, and industrial projects ranging from $500K to over $5M.

Key responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare precise electrical cost estimates.
• Analyze drawings and technical specifications to identify required materials, labor, equipment, and code compliance.
• Perform detailed material and labor takeoffs for installation, wiring, testing, and commissioning.
• Maintain and update cost databases for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Prepare bid proposals, participate in bid reviews and meetings, and collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors for competitive pricing.
• Support value engineering by proposing cost‑saving alternatives without compromising safety or quality.
• Assess project risks, develop cost and schedule contingencies, and document all assumptions.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and senior leadership.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as an Electrical Estimator (3–5 years preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
• Proven experience estimating commercial projects valued between $500K and $5M+.
• Strong knowledge of local and national electrical codes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Bluebeam.
• Experience using estimating software.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical plans.
• Knowledge of electrical materials and installation methods.
