Chicago Title I Secondary English Language Arts Instructor

About the role

Proximity Learning seeks a passionate instructor to deliver supplemental Title I English Language Arts instruction to high‑school students (grades 9‑12) in Chicago. The role combines classroom teaching, small‑group tutoring, and occasional SAT‑prep sessions, aiming to close achievement gaps and strengthen foundational skills.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pull‑out, small‑group instruction focused on English Language Arts.
• Develop lesson plans aligned with the Title I curriculum.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce and extend instruction.
• Maintain a positive, achievement‑oriented learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and adjust grouping and instruction as needed.
• Complete required compliance forms and adhere to Title I guidelines.
• Maintain accurate PLI records and documentation.
• Communicate regularly with PLI management, Title I coordinator, school staff, and parents.

Required profile

• 3‑4 years of post‑secondary education.
• At least one year of experience as a classroom teacher, tutor, or resource personnel.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• COVID‑19 vaccination.
• Reliable commute to Chicago, IL 60634 or willingness to relocate.
