Charge Nurse / RN – Weekend Full‑Time Surgery

About the role

Join UT Health Tyler as a full‑time, weekend Charge Nurse on a busy surgical unit. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, coordinate patient care, and ensure high‑quality outcomes in a Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and administer care to a specific patient population using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
• Provide clinical supervision to nursing, professional, and auxiliary staff to maintain continuous quality care.
• Work with medical staff to achieve hospital and departmental goals.
• Manage departmental activities in line with hospital policies and physician orders.
• Oversee implementation of individualized care plans for each patient.

Required profile

• Degree as a Registered Nurse from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas RN license.
• Minimum two years of inpatient/acute care nursing experience.
• At least one year of charge nurse experience.

Required skills

• BLS certification (must be obtained within 14 days of hire).
• ACLS certification (required within six months of employment).
