Charge Nurse / RN – Evening Shift

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time, evening‑shift Charge Nurse (RN) to lead our surgical unit at UT Health Tyler in Tyler, Texas. The role combines direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring high‑quality outcomes for a diverse inpatient population.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver nursing care to the unit’s patient population using a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach.
• Provide clinical supervision to nursing, professional and auxiliary staff, maintaining continuous quality of care.
• Work with medical staff to achieve hospital and departmental goals and adhere to policies, physician orders, and treatment protocols.
• Oversee implementation of individualized care plans and manage departmental activities in line with hospital standards.

Required profile

• RN degree from an accredited nursing program.
• Current Texas RN license.
• BLS certification obtained within 14 days of hire.
• ACLS certification required within six months of employment.
• Minimum two years of inpatient/acute‑care nursing experience.
• At least one year of charge‑nurse experience.

Required skills

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
