About the role
The Chaplain Summer Intern will join the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) pastoral care team for a summer placement. This unpaid internship provides hands‑on experience supporting patients, families, and staff with spiritual and emotional needs in a hospital environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide compassionate pastoral care to patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Assist in conducting spiritual assessments and offering appropriate resources.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and rounds.
- Document interactions in accordance with hospital policies.
- Support community outreach and faith‑based initiatives on campus.
Required profile
- Current undergraduate student or recent graduate with a degree.
- Interest in chaplaincy, pastoral care, or related fields.
- Ability to work in a healthcare setting and respect patient confidentiality.
- Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination or an approved exemption.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
