CFO / Controller – Luxury Apparel Brand (NYC)

About the role

The company is a fast‑growing luxury apparel brand seeking a senior finance leader to serve as CFO and/or Controller. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will shape financial strategy, build scalable processes, and support rapid expansion.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including month‑end close, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Manage AP/AR functions and ensure timely, accurate transactions.
• Lead the migration from QuickBooks to RLM and optimize ERP systems for scalability.
• Develop and enforce financial policies, internal controls, and GAAP compliance.
• Partner with the CEO on forecasting, business planning, and strategic decision‑making.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Controller or CFO in a scaling business, preferably in wholesale or DTC apparel.
• Strong background in luxury or high‑growth retail finance.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, founder‑led environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.

Required skills

• RLM (or similar ERP system) expertise.
• QuickBooks proficiency.
• Deep knowledge of ERP systems and financial process automation.
• Advanced understanding of GAAP and financial compliance.
