About the role

The Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist I to join its Long Island Ambulatory Surgery Center. This full‑time, 8‑hour day position supports a Magnet‑recognized surgical team, ensuring the highest quality of patient care throughout pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op phases.

Key responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nurses during surgeries using best practices of sterile technique.
• Assemble, maintain, and track surgical instruments and equipment.
• Inspect all packaged items to ensure integrity before use.
• Conduct pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op surgical counts in accordance with AORN standards.
• Maintain the integrity of the surgical field and promote patient safety.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• NBSTSA certification.
• American Heart Associate Heartsaver certification.
• Minimum one year of experience as a surgical technologist.
• Meticulous attention to detail, self‑motivated, proactive, and able to think critically in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills
