Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant – Acute

About the role

Ochsner Health is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide routine acute care under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You will deliver direct patient treatment, document progress, and support the therapeutic plan of care in a fast‑paced hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform occupational therapy treatments as prescribed by the physician and supervised by a licensed OT.
• Communicate and document any changes in patient status and notify the supervising therapist.
• Maintain accurate patient records in accordance with documentation standards.
• Participate in staff and committee projects and achieve productivity targets.
• Educate and train peers within the discipline and adapt interactions to diverse patient populations.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program.
• Eligibility for state OT assistant licensure and a current license prior to start date.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency with software and web‑based applications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
