Certified Medical Assistant - Primary Care

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Certified Medical Assistant for its primary care clinic in Riverview, Florida. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, on a day-shift schedule that rotates between weekdays and weekends, with full availability required because the clinic is open Monday to Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday 8am-5pm. Travel is needed occasionally to meet staffing needs.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients and equipment for treatment, initiate testing and document results in the practice's system
• Maintain OSHA compliance and other office safety policies
• Provide whole care during office visits, including intake, screenings, labs, medication administration and closing care gaps
• Perform clinical intake such as screenings, history taking, vital signs and medication reconciliation
• Assist with minor procedures and ensure accurate documentation
• Educate patients on tests, medications and diet
• Monitor and manage inventory of supplies and medical equipment
• Keep employee and patient information confidential and support teamwork

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Certification: CMA, CMAC, RMA, NCMA, CCMA or NRCMA
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
• 1+ year of related work experience preferred
• Ability to work independently within the scope of certification and handle stressful, fast-paced situations

Required skills

• Medical terminology and knowledge of chronic disease management
• Use of internal and external resources and patient advocacy
• Legible reading, writing and typing, and effective spoken and written English
• Computer experience
