Cement Mason / Concrete Finisher I

About the role

Louisiana Bridge Builders is seeking a Cement Mason/Concrete Finisher I to join the team building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge and related highway structures in Lake Charles, LA. The role involves placing, finishing, repairing and curing concrete surfaces such as sidewalks, curbs, and bridge decks while meeting quality, durability and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set forms, screeds and verify alignment, elevation and grade.
• Mix, pour, spread, level and smooth concrete using hand and power tools.
• Finish surfaces with trowels, floats, screeds, edgers and apply surface treatments, sealers and curing compounds.
• Cut expansion joints with hand tools or power saws and create decorative finishes when required.
• Monitor curing process to ensure proper strength and durability.
• Repair, patch and resurface existing concrete structures using grinders, demo hammers, repair mortars and dry‑rub finishing tools.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a safe, clean condition.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Effective written and verbal communication with customers, coworkers and vendors.
• Ability to read and interpret repair procedures and specifications.
• Experience placing and finishing bridge decks, especially with Bidwell roller pavers.
• Team‑oriented with the initiative to work independently.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends or holidays as needed.
• Comfort working at heights using finishing buggies or manlifts.
