CDL Class 8 Driver - Chemical Distribution

About the role

Brenntag is looking for a safety-focused CDL driver to support the daily operations of chemical distribution in East Hartford. The driver operates Class 8 tractors and related equipment to transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials, including liquid and dry products, and works under a "Zero Accidents, Zero Injuries" safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Drive a power unit (Class 8 tractor and lower) for chemical distribution, moving materials to customers, vendors, within plants and between branches
• Perform bulk deliveries of liquids and solids, and packaged deliveries in drums, IBCs, pallets and supersacks, including loading and unloading with pumps and air
• Manage the full process: transport, transfer, delivery, securement and paperwork
• Comply with DOT, OSHA and site rules, including placarding, pre-inspection, daily logs and reporting repairs
• Care for assigned equipment, including ELDs, cameras and tracking units, and keep it clean and in good working order
• Stay in contact with the supervisor or dispatcher for delivery instructions

Required profile

• High school diploma, GED or US military experience; chemical delivery experience may be considered
• Class A CDL with Tanker, Bulk and/or Hazmat endorsement, current DOT medical card, and ability to drive a manual transmission
• Pallet jack certification required; forklift certification preferred if the location requires it
• Ability to read and write simple instructions in English, perform basic math, and use devices such as smartphones and Samsara
• Resides within 60 miles of the area; no lodging provided
• Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds, push or pull up to 150 pounds, climb ladders and wear a respirator if required
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends, pass a drug screen, background check and E-verify
