Catering & Events Manager

About the role

The Catering & Events Manager leads the planning, coordination, and daily execution of all catering and event services for Augustana College. Based in Westerlin Hall with production in the Gerber Dining Center Kitchen, this hands‑on manager supports academic departments, administrative offices, and external conference programs.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for campus departments, student organizations, and approved external clients regarding catered events.
• Consult with clients to define event requirements, menu selections, and service style.
• Oversee the full catering workflow: event preparation, equipment staging, deliveries, setup, service execution, and breakdown.
• Manage a lean staffing model composed mainly of student employees and temporary staff, providing supervision and leadership during events.
• Coordinate with Dining Services production teams and external conference organizers to ensure seamless execution.
• Maintain inventory of catering equipment, supplies, and ensure compliance with food safety standards.
• Support hospitality events at the President’s Residence and other high‑visibility campus functions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in catering, food service, or event management, preferably in an educational or institutional setting.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
• Leadership capability to supervise student staff and temporary workers.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and during peak event periods.
