Cash Supervisor – Night Shift

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is seeking a Night Shift Cash Supervisor to lead a team of operations personnel within the Cash Services Department. This advanced‑level position requires overseeing the safe and efficient handling of high‑value currency and coin inventories during overnight hours.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise a staff of direct‑report coordinators and operations personnel across one or more cash handling units.
• Schedule daily work assignments, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with established procedures and deadlines.
• Coordinate workflow, resolve operational issues, and delegate tasks as needed.
• Lead staff meetings, monitor quality and production standards, and implement improvement programs.
• Consult with department management, other units, and financial institutions to address operational challenges.
• Provide leadership that reflects the Bank’s vision, values, and culture, fostering staff growth and constructive conflict resolution.
• Oversee staff development, training, performance evaluations, time‑and‑attendance tracking, and counseling.
• Participate in recruitment, interviewing, and selection of qualified candidates.
• Manage daily opening and closing of vault doors and related security structures.
• High‑Speed Unit duties: ensure timely currency processing, maintain and test sensors, and provide technical assistance to staff.

Required profile

• Advanced work level with ability to operate under minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of cash governing procedures, including Custody Control Standards, Federal Reserve Currency Operational Manual, and District Procedure Manual.
• Experience with vault operations and high‑speed currency processing equipment.
