Cash Services Technician

About the role

The Cash Services Technician supports the circulation of currency and coin inventory for depository institutions and the public, ensuring smooth operations during normal and business‑continuity periods. Reporting to Cash Management, the role is essential for maintaining workflow, production efficiency, and compliance with Federal Reserve policies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain currency processing, destruction, paying, and receiving equipment, including daily machine setup and troubleshooting.
• Monitor and resolve equipment, software, and out‑of‑balance conditions, coordinating with vendor field engineers as needed.
• Perform financial and procedural audits to verify that departmental controls are effective.
• Oversee inventory and transaction systems (FedCash Central), assigning work and conducting staff observations via video surveillance.
• Coordinate training, counterfeit testing, and certification for Cash Services staff.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree (or equivalent experience); Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of Federal Reserve Bank Cash Services experience.
• Knowledge of Custody Controls concepts, District Procedure Manual, and Federal Reserve Currency Operations manuals.

• Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, SharePoint.
• FedCash Central accounting system.
• Oracle database applications.
• BPS 3000 and Control Center systems.
• Video Surveillance System and Currency Ordering System (WebCOS).
• Mint Transportation System.
