Cash Operations Specialist

About the role

The Cash Operations Specialist supports the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston by handling the receipt, processing, validation, and payout of currency and coin in a highly regulated environment. This entry‑level position is essential to daily bank operations and is performed on‑site in a secure production setting.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, and dispense currency and coin to depository institutions while meeting production standards.
• Operate high‑speed currency equipment and material handling devices such as pallet jacks, lifts, and stackers.
• Balance deposits and record financial accounting transactions using the bank’s accounting and inventory systems.
• Track inventory movements, reconcile physical counts with automated records, and document all transactions.
• Obtain and maintain counterfeit detection certification and perform manual inspection of notes.
• Ensure strict compliance with Federal Reserve Currency Operations Manual, Custody Control Principles, and internal cash procedures.
