Cash Operating Clerk

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City’s Cash Services division is seeking a Cash Operating Clerk to support the processing, distribution, and retirement of U.S. currency and coin. The role combines office‑based recordkeeping with the physical handling of bulk cash items in a highly regulated environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process and reconcile currency and coin deposits from depository institutions.
• Operate cash‑handling equipment, including jacks and forklifts, to move pallets and containers.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with Federal Reserve policies.
• Assist in the preparation of new currency for distribution and the destruction of unfit notes and coins.
• Perform routine physical tasks such as lifting items up to 50 lb and transporting containers exceeding 1,000 lb with mechanical aid.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; no prior experience required.
• Ability to meet physical demands of the job, including standing, bending, and squatting for extended periods.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required skills

• Forklift operation (preferred).
