Caseworker – Refugee Resettlement Services

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a dedicated Caseworker to provide trauma‑informed support to refugees and qualified immigrants. You will help clients navigate essential services, develop self‑sufficiency plans, and integrate successfully into their new community.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate pre‑ and post‑arrival services, ensuring clients have housing, food, medical care, transportation, and orientation.
• Conduct intake assessments, create individualized self‑sufficiency timelines, and provide direct support, referrals, and advocacy.
• Monitor client progress, address challenges, and ensure optimal use of available resources.
• Document all client interactions in accordance with program requirements and maintain accurate database records.
• Collaborate with coworkers, partner organizations, and local service providers to enhance client outcomes.
• Train and supervise volunteers and interns as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in human services, preferably with refugee or immigrant populations.
• Strong relationship‑building, diplomacy, and networking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Experience conducting client intake and needs assessments.
• Proficiency in developing self‑sufficiency plans and tracking outcomes.
• Knowledge of local resources for housing, healthcare, employment, and education.
• Effective documentation and data entry skills.
