About the role
The Career Development Specialist supports refugees and immigrants in the United States to achieve economic self‑sufficiency. Working within the International Rescue Committee’s Career Development Program, you will guide participants from low‑wage jobs toward sustainable career pathways.
Key responsibilities
- Assess client eligibility and readiness for program services.
- Develop individualized career development plans.
- Schedule and coordinate career‑building activities, workshops, and training.
- Assist clients with job search strategies, resume writing, and application preparation.
- Provide case management and job‑coaching support to overcome barriers.
- Track progress and report outcomes to program leadership.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience working with refugee or immigrant populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and flexibility to respond to dynamic client needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to the mission of promoting economic self‑sufficiency.
