Capital Project Engineer

About the role

3M is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to lead engineering projects that drive growth, cost reduction, EHS improvement, and equipment/facility renewal. You will work on‑site in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across the globe.

Key responsibilities

• Lead capital engineering projects from concept through execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Coordinate diverse teams including electrical, facilities, design, and operations to meet project expectations.
• Integrate manufacturing and laboratory requirements into project planning.
• Control project costs and timelines, and present status updates to partners, suppliers, and senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with at least three years of project management experience, or an Associate’s degree with five years of experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to present project plans and status to management.
• Team‑player who can contribute positively in a multidisciplinary environment.
