Capital Payment Auditor – Management Auditor

About the role

The New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Capital Payment Auditor to serve as a Management Auditor within the Fiscal Affairs Accounts Payable Unit. The auditor will ensure that vendor invoices and payment requests are processed accurately, comply with policies, and meet established deadlines.

Key responsibilities

• Review assigned invoices and supporting documentation for completeness and compliance.
• Pre‑audit voucher payment packages and either approve or return them for correction.
• Utilize the City’s Financial Management System (FMS3) and the Procurement and Sourcing Solutions Portal (PASSPort) to process and track payments.
• Log invoices in the internal tracking database and monitor for errors.
• Verify contract specifications and regulatory requirements before approving payments.
• Prepare reports for managerial and budgetary review as needed.

Required profile

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work within established deadlines.
• Understanding of public‑sector procurement and payment processes.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the City’s Financial Management System (FMS3).
• Experience using the Procurement and Sourcing Solutions Portal (PASSPort).
• Knowledge of invoice auditing and accounts payable procedures.
