CAP Assistant Dance Instructor – Montebello In‑School Programs

About the role

The CAP Assistant Dance Instructor supports the Lead Instructor in delivering an 8‑week hip‑hop dance residency for K‑12 students across Montebello Unified School District sites. The role involves classroom teaching, preparation, and participation in culminating events.

Key responsibilities

• Assist lead instructors in delivering daily dance classes (up to 4 hours per day) and prepare lesson plans in advance.
• Set up and break down equipment, keep supplies organized, and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Attend required training sessions, professional‑development days, and pre‑program site visits.
• Support students one‑on‑one during lessons and monitor their well‑being.
• Help plan and execute exhibitions or final presentations, including media editing and installation.
• Log hours promptly in PayCom and respond to communications from staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated interest in teaching K‑12 students.
• Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student, faculty, and staff communities.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Required skills

• Hip‑hop dance instruction and knowledge of basic dance technique.
• Ability to assess student progress and skill levels objectively.
