About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a Campus Police Officer to provide professional law‑enforcement services on university campuses. You will protect students, faculty, staff and visitors while upholding federal, state and campus regulations. The role combines proactive patrol, emergency response and community‑oriented policing.
Key responsibilities
- Patrol campus buildings, parking lots and surrounding property on foot and by vehicle to deter crime and maintain a visible presence.
- Respond promptly to calls for service, alarms, accidents, medical emergencies, fires, hazardous incidents and natural disasters.
- Investigate criminal and non‑criminal incidents, collect evidence, interview witnesses and prepare detailed reports.
- Enforce federal, state and local laws, campus policies, parking and traffic regulations.
- Make lawful arrests, apply appropriate levels of force and coordinate with local, state and federal agencies.
- Provide first aid, CPR and emergency medical assistance until EMS arrives.
- Serve as the initial responder for active‑shooter, violent crime, severe weather and hazardous material incidents.
- Monitor security through physical patrols, surveillance systems and regular inspections of facilities.
- Control traffic, manage crowds and secure campus events.
Required profile
- Sound judgment, professionalism and high integrity.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in routine incidents and critical emergencies.
- Strong communication skills and the capacity to work collaboratively with other agencies.
Required skills
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Proficiency with radio communications equipment.
- Operation of surveillance and security monitoring systems.
- Knowledge of use‑of‑force policies and lawful arrest procedures.
