Campus Police Lieutenant

About the role

The State of Georgia seeks a Campus Police Lieutenant to support the Savannah Technical College Police Department. Reporting to the Chief of Police, you will help plan, organize, and manage daily operations while ensuring campus safety and compliance with state and college policies.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise sergeants, officers, and other personnel in day‑to‑day police services and security functions.
• Assist in developing short‑ and long‑term goals for training, staffing, emergency preparedness, and operational readiness.
• Coordinate and deliver law‑enforcement, safety, and emergency‑response training for staff and students.
• Ensure officers meet Georgia P.O.S.T. training requirements, maintain firearms qualifications, and keep all certifications up to date.
• Maintain training records, documentation, and compliance with college policy, TCSG requirements, and applicable laws.

• Demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and accountability in a law‑enforcement environment.
• Strong communication skills with the public, college community, and external partners.
• Commitment to high ethical standards, sound judgment, and responsible behavior.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Georgia P.O.S.T. training standards and certification processes.
• Experience supervising police personnel and managing campus security operations.
• Ability to develop and document training programs for law‑enforcement and emergency response.
