Campus Custodian – Full-time

About the role

The Custodian provides general and specific cleaning and maintenance services for Georgetown University’s campuses, ensuring a clean, safe and pleasant environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) with an hourly wage of $18.87.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning of classrooms, offices, restrooms, exterior entrances and other public spaces.
• Move furniture, set up and break down special events, and provide floor‑care services.
• Support emergency situations such as snow removal, inclement‑weather response and water‑damage cleanup.
• Operate custodial tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with safety regulations.
• Drive university vehicles when required and maintain proper documentation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 lb, bending, crouching, kneeling and scrubbing.
• Valid driver’s license in Virginia, Maryland or the District of Columbia.
• Willingness to work during emergency situations and adhere to safety rules.

Required skills

• Operation of custodial equipment and tools.
• Safe driving of university‑owned vehicles.
