Café Manager

About the role

The Savannah Technical College campus café is seeking a dedicated Café Manager to lead daily operations, ensure food‑service excellence, and provide a real‑world learning environment for culinary students. This full‑time position reports to college administration and works closely with the Baking and Pastry Arts faculty.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee opening, closing, staffing, and customer service for the café.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage inventory, ordering, receiving, and storage of all café supplies.
• Operate POS systems, handle cash, process deposits, and generate daily sales reports.
• Coordinate with faculty to feature student‑produced baked goods and schedule production.
• Mentor and supervise student workers and interns, providing feedback on service and operations.
• Support special events, catering, campus functions, and recruitment activities.
• Assist with marketing, budget planning, expense management, and sales analysis.

Required profile

• ServSafe Manager certification.
• Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or Baking & Pastry Arts from an accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of recent culinary or bakery experience, including 1+ year in a management role.
• Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards.
• Experience in higher‑education or technical‑education environments is a plus.

• Inventory management software proficiency.
• Food safety compliance (ServSafe).
• Menu pricing and promotional strategy analysis.
