Cable Manufacturing Operator

About the role

The Cable Manufacturing Operator will work on the production floor of Nexans High Voltage USA, ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment that produces high‑voltage cables. You will be responsible for maintaining product quality, following standard procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain cable manufacturing equipment safely while meeting quality standards.
• Interact with the Man Machine Interface (MMI) and touch‑screen systems to enter production data, daily reports, and scrap tracking.
• Read, understand, and follow Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Perform quality inspections using micrometers, OTDR, gauge‑block microscopes, and related tools.
• Use and maintain hand tools required for equipment setup, teardown, and operation.
• Complete and file all required operational paperwork and documentation.
• Assist teammates with training, coaching, and problem‑solving as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma (technical education preferred) and up to 5 years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret plant documentation, SOPs, and basic math calculations.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement, and adherence to company policies.
• Willingness to travel short‑term for training at other North American sites.

Required skills

• Proficient operation of Man Machine Interface (MMI) and touch‑screen systems.
• Experience with optical time‑domain reflectometer (OTDR) measurements.
• Use of micrometers and gauge‑block microscopes for precision inspection.
• Competence with hand tools for equipment setup and maintenance.
