Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer is responsible for placing and authorizing purchase orders within assigned limits, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining accurate records. You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to keep inventory levels optimal while minimizing working capital investment.

Key responsibilities

• Review daily purchasing reports, determine appropriate quantities, and create purchase orders for suppliers.
• Execute stock replenishment, special orders, and drop‑ship purchases using the most economical methods.
• Guarantee accurate order details, costs, notes, and compliance with terms.
• Manage electronic data interchange (EDI), automated stock replenishment (ASR/VMI), and ensure orders reach suppliers via email or fax.
• Follow up on order status, communicate delivery information, and resolve shipping errors.
• Negotiate return authorizations for excess or inactive inventory.
• Assist managers in evaluating supplier performance on delivery, fill rates, and cost improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or a related field.
• At least 1 year of purchasing experience in a supply‑chain environment.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory concepts, and business performance measures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, problem‑solving, and analytical abilities.
