Buyer – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Moog is seeking a motivated Buyer to join its Santa Barbara operations team. You will support the supply chain for mission‑critical military vehicle subsystems by managing commodity sourcing, negotiating contracts, and driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Execute RFQs through to purchase orders, negotiate price and lead‑time, and develop flexible supply strategies.
• Maintain deep knowledge of key suppliers and coach internal teams during solution development.
• Lead cross‑functional discussions, build consensus, and ensure follow‑up on action plans.
• Apply structured problem‑solving methods (A3, 5 Why, 8D, Pareto) to root‑cause issues and implement corrective actions.
• Plan top‑level assemblies, analyze part requirements, manage master schedules, and identify supply risks and opportunities.
• Generate and implement continuous‑improvement ideas aligned with product‑line goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant purchasing or supply‑chain experience.
• APICS certification in Purchasing, Production, and Inventory Control – preferred.
• Lean Manufacturing certification or demonstrable experience – preferred.
