Buyer – Procurement Roles (Multiple Openings)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking motivated procurement professionals to join its buying team in Austin (and Santa Clara). Buyers will be responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, machinery and services that support state‑of‑the‑art manufacturing facilities and new product introduction programs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume purchasing group (P‑Group) and ensure material availability for production.
• Issue RFQs, evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing and delivery terms.
• Create, release and monitor purchase orders in the ERP system.
• Coordinate with planning, manufacturing, engineering and operations to meet supply requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, track performance and resolve issues.
• Identify and drive procurement process improvements and cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) by managing the full lifecycle of custom components.

• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to manage multiple suppliers and parts simultaneously.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems for purchasing.
• Proficiency in issuing and managing RFQs and purchase orders.
• Negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Cost analysis and budgeting.
