Buyer – Procurement of Materials & Services

About the role

The Buyer supports CB&I Storage Solutions by sourcing commodities and services, evaluating bids, and issuing purchase orders. Reporting to the Senior Procurement Manager, the role works closely with engineering, operations and estimating teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare contract documents, bidder lists and qualify new suppliers.
• Issue requests for quotation and manage the bid evaluation process.
• Purchase materials and services at or below estimates while meeting schedule requirements.
• Negotiate small- to medium-value purchase orders for regional and international purchases.
• Resolve simple vendor claims or disputes and support award and conformity processes.
• Provide budgetary pricing for equipment, material or labour to support estimating for non-major projects.
• Recommend and implement improvements to procurement tools, systems and software.
• Promote and adhere to the company’s HSE culture and leadership competencies.

Required profile

• 1-5 years of relevant procurement experience; EPC industry background preferred.
• BA or BS degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems.
• Experience sourcing and procuring steel plate and other commodity items.
• Ability to analyze demand and production schedules to determine material requirements.
• Strong negotiation skills for pricing, delivery terms and payment conditions.
• Capability to issue purchase orders, manage confirmations and changes.
• Commitment to compliance with technical specifications, industry standards and quality requirements.
