Buyer – Procurement & Contract Management

About the role

The Buyer supports Delta Utilities’ gas operations by managing the end‑to‑end purchasing process for goods, services, and construction projects. Working closely with legal, procurement, and operational teams, the role requires strong time‑management, communication, and attention to detail in a fast‑moving, startup‑like environment.

Key responsibilities

• Convert requisitions into purchase orders for gas utility, fleet, and corporate purchases.
• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase orders and blanket contracts in Oracle WACs.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure correct accounting codes and timely order issuance.
• Partner with legal and procurement to maintain policy, regulatory, and industry compliance.
• Facilitate vendor setup, invoice resolution, and delivery coordination.
• Identify risks, recommend improvements, and report on PO status throughout the lifecycle.
• Assist the Strategic Sourcing team with contract creation, bid events, and supplier reviews.
• Support the supply‑chain team with reports, PowerPoint presentations, and training documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply‑chain management, legal studies or related field (or 5 years purchasing experience in lieu of a degree).
• Experience in contract management, procurement, or business analytics preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
