Buyer – Mid-Level Purchasing Role

About the role

The Buyer will coordinate, execute, and manage buying activities for a specific classification or key program. Working closely with senior leadership, the role supports the development and communication of product strategies that meet financial targets.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze product trends and historical data to shape seasonal strategies and financial goals.
• Create and maintain assortment sheets, distributing updates to business partners.
• Participate in pre‑season, line‑edit, product review, and bottom‑up planning meetings.
• Evaluate buys at style, class, and department levels, set retail prices, and monitor financial performance (sales, GM, GMROI, turn).
• Provide input on sales forecasts, OTB discussions, and in‑season adjustments such as order quantities, deliveries, pricing, or markdowns.
• Conduct store visits to gather customer and associate feedback and perform competitive analysis.
• Support cross‑functional teams through data compilation, meeting participation, and clear communication.
• Train and coach peers, Associate and Assistant Buyers through on‑the‑job feedback and modeling.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 4–6 years of buying or merchandising experience.
• Mid‑level experience with a proven track record of meeting sales and margin targets.
