Buyer II – Procurement Specialist

About the role

Cleco is seeking a Buyer II to support its transactional procurement function. The role focuses on process optimization, compliance, cost savings, and delivering excellent service to internal stakeholders while adhering to Cleco’s procurement policies.

Key responsibilities

• Execute supplier enablement, purchase order (PO) creation, and PO monitoring with minimal assistance.
• Process requisitions and generate timely, accurate purchase orders using SAP and Ariba.
• Collaborate with internal business partners to clarify requirements and ensure order accuracy.
• Prepare and execute standard contracts and assist suppliers with PO‑related issues.
• Monitor open purchase orders, coordinate with inventory management, and report back‑ordered or missing items.
• Analyze transaction data to identify improvement opportunities for quality, cost, and delivery.
• Support P2P procedural compliance, contract spend management, and risk escalation.
• Assist during storms, outages, or emergencies, including extended hours or alternate locations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field with 3–5 years of experience, OR 5–7 years of relevant purchasing experience without a degree.
• Strong business acumen in the utility industry.
• Excellent planning and project management abilities.
• Willingness to learn new technologies on the job.
