Buyer I – Procurement Specialist

About the role

The Buyer I supports the procurement function by handling low‑complexity orders for goods, supplies, equipment, and services. Working under established purchasing policies, the role ensures timely delivery, manages supplier performance, and communicates order status to procurement leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Review and analyze purchase requisitions.
• Prepare and solicit bids, issue RFQs, and evaluate quotations.
• Negotiate purchases of goods, supplies, equipment, and services.
• Generate purchase orders and distribute them to suppliers and internal requestors.
• Communicate technical, quality, legal, and commercial requirements to suppliers.
• Monitor order schedules, risks, and supplier performance.
• Resolve purchasing issues between Oceaneering and vendors.
• Perform administrative tasks supporting the purchasing function.

Required profile

• A four‑year degree in business or a technical discipline, or a high‑school diploma/GED with three or more years of purchasing experience.
• At least one year of buying experience (or three years without a degree).
• Knowledge of purchasing practices, materials, products, and commodity markets.
• Self‑motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel to the designated office as needed.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
