Business Systems Analyst 1 – Full‑time

About the role

The University of Miami’s UMIT Department is seeking a full‑time Business Systems Analyst 1 to work onsite in Coral Gables, Florida. Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, you will evaluate, design, and improve workflow systems for both third‑party and in‑house applications, supporting the university community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed action plans with goals, target dates, and obtain approvals.
• Maintain communication and rapport with managing staff and stakeholders.
• Create flowcharts comparing existing and improved processes.
• Prepare time and cost estimates for projects and proposals.
• Research best‑practice models and benchmark against industry standards.
• Apply process design, optimization, forecasting, and supply‑chain principles to enhance systems.
• Revise work standards, policies, and SOPs to improve productivity.
• Collect and analyze data to measure baseline performance and post‑implementation improvements.
• Prepare presentations summarizing methodology, results, recommendations, and cost‑benefit analysis.
• Collaborate with the Director of IT to elicit, document, and manage requirements for divisional projects.
• Lead project kick‑offs, stakeholder meetings, and track progress to ensure timely delivery.
• Develop and document use and test cases; facilitate test sessions with product owners.

Required profile

• Strong oral and written communication skills to serve students, parents, staff, and the university community.
• Ability to exercise professional judgment and discretion in evaluating workflow systems.
• Experience maintaining ongoing communication with managing staff and stakeholders.
