Building Maintenance Worker

About the role

The Building Maintenance Worker supports Georgetown University's facilities management by performing routine and semi‑skilled maintenance on building structures, systems and equipment across the Main Campus. This full‑time position provides daily support to building users through service calls, scheduled inspections and minor repairs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and lock systems.
• Respond promptly to service calls and conduct scheduled inspections.
• Use standard tools, equipment and supplies in accordance with trade practices.
• Observe all safety rules, regulations and precautions while working.
• Collaborate with a Zone Manager or Central Shop Supervisor and other trade staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least two years of experience performing general building maintenance.
• Completion of a training program covering basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, lock and HVAC maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license from Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia.
