Budget Analyst

About the role

The University of Maryland seeks a detail‑oriented Budget Analyst to support the development, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of institutional budgets. Working closely with academic and administrative units, the analyst will provide accurate financial information, identify trends, and help guide resource‑planning decisions while ensuring compliance with university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare budget and financial analyses, forecasts, and performance reports.
• Develop and maintain reports for university leadership and stakeholders.
• Assist with financial reconciliations, fiscal year‑end activities, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with departments to evaluate financial performance and support decision‑making.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives within the Budget Office.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in budgeting, finance, or accounting.
• Strong analytical and judgment skills with the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using Google Suite productivity tools.
• Knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting.
