Budget Analyst 3 – State Government

About the role

The Georgia Student Finance Commission is seeking a Budget Analyst 3 to support the development, analysis, and management of complex budgets for state‑funded education programs. This position works under broad supervision to ensure accurate financial planning and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, prepare, and revise large or complex budgets and supporting schedules for assigned programs.
• Analyze budget program and policy issues, financial trends, and proposed legislation; recommend actions to management.
• Prioritize funding needs, create budget requests, negotiate and explain budgets with external parties.
• Manage internal operating budgets and serve as liaison with other agency units.
• Track state allotments, expenditures, and invoicing patterns; conduct data analysis.
• Coordinate special projects such as Zero‑Based Budget reports, audit reviews, and performance‑measure reporting.

Required profile

• Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
• Experience in public‑sector budgeting or financial analysis.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
