Bookstore Assistant (Part‑Time)

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Southern Crescent Technical College, is seeking a part‑time Bookstore Assistant to support daily operations and provide excellent customer service to students and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the point‑of‑sale (POS) system and assist customers with purchases.
• Balance cash register receipts and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Support day‑to‑day bookstore activities, including sales promotions and merchandising.
• Conduct inventory counts and maintain stock records.
• Calculate and post bookstore charges as needed.
• Perform general clerical duties assigned by the Bookstore Manager.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of related work experience.
• Preferably a diploma in accounting, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent retail experience.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and ability to work independently.
• Good decision‑making, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with POS systems.
• Experience in inventory control.
• Cash register operation.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with job‑related software.
