Board Operator

About the role

Stepan Company is looking for a safety‑focused, detail‑oriented Board Operator to join its Pasadena manufacturing team. The role involves monitoring and controlling chemical manufacturing processes through the Honeywell Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor plant processes using the Honeywell DCS.
• Watch process conditions and make adjustments to maintain safe and efficient production.
• Analyze alarms and respond to equipment or process deviations.
• Coordinate with field operators during routine runs, startups, shutdowns, and emergencies.
• Maintain accurate operating logs, production records, and shift documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.
• Participate in shift handoffs to ensure operational continuity.
• Support troubleshooting with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and EH&S teams.
• Assist with plant startups, shutdowns, and emergency response activities.
• Uphold Responsible Care® principles and comply with all environmental, health, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Strong safety orientation and attention to detail.
• Ability to monitor complex process controls and react promptly to alarms.
• Effective communication and coordination with field operators and cross‑functional teams.
• Commitment to maintaining ISO 9001 documentation and quality standards.
• Willingness to cross‑train in additional operating areas as needed.

Required skills

• Experience with Honeywell Distributed Control System (DCS).
