Billing Analyst - Lab & Pathology

About the role

The Billing Analyst supports the laboratory and pathology services at UAMS by reviewing, analyzing and processing billing and reimbursement activities. The role ensures accurate and timely payment for services, monitors accounts, resolves discrepancies and collaborates with internal departments and insurers.

Key responsibilities

• Review health record documentation to confirm that diagnoses and procedures are properly supported.
• Assign accurate CPT and ICD-10 codes and request coding corrections when needed.
• Process professional billing, including Medicaid specific modifiers and foster-care exam billing.
• Manage claim denials and follow-up queues in Epic, posting charges and correcting errors.
• Communicate with physicians and insurance companies to resolve billing questions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field with at least 1 year of medical billing experience, or high school diploma with 5 years equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease processes and pathology terminology.
• Familiarity with Arkansas Medicaid reimbursement rules and modifiers.
