Benefit Payment Control Agent

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a Benefit Payment Control Agent to review unemployment insurance overpayment cases, both fraudulent and non‑fraudulent, and ensure compliance with program regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Review unemployment insurance overpayment cases submitted for collection.
• Gather and evaluate documents and evidence to support each case.
• Determine whether evidence is sufficient for prosecution, civil action, or repayment agreements.
• Prepare cases for collection, criminal prosecution, or civil litigation.
• Testify in administrative hearings or court proceedings as needed.
• Negotiate and monitor repayment agreements with non‑fraudulent claimants and initiate court action upon default.

Required profile

• Four years of unemployment insurance benefits experience.
• Two years of experience determining program eligibility.
• Two years of experience filing civil actions for debt collection.
• One year of experience processing benefit overpayment determinations.
