Basic X-Ray Machine Operator - Urgent Care

About the role

AdventHealth is hiring a Basic X-Ray Machine Operator for its urgent care facility in Mount Dora, Florida. The operator prepares patients for radiologic procedures, operates x-ray equipment and ensures patient, staff and public safety from radiation hazards. A sign-on bonus of up to $10,000 is available.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protect them, themselves and other staff from radiation hazards
• Take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, including infection control measures
• Select proper ionizing factors and adjust radiographic controls
• Position patients and take x-rays of specific body parts as requested by the physician
• Process film, check images for clarity and retake when needed, keeping film files neat and orderly
• Maintain patient records, daily logbooks and monthly reports, and ensure reports and films are available to the physician in a timely way
• Perform quantity and quality control checks so the x-ray unit meets legal, regulatory and company standards
• Maintain the darkroom and x-ray room, stock supplies, rotate film stock and verify charges on charge slips
• Report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor and comply with safety standards

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent (required); associate's degree preferred
• Willingness to float to other FHMG practices when patient load or schedules require it
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification (required)
• Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BMO) certification (required)
