Backend Engineer (Remote, Contract)

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join our remote team on a contract basis. You will build and maintain scalable back‑end and full‑stack services, collaborating with cross‑functional partners to deliver reliable software solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain scalable back‑end and full‑stack applications using Python, Rust, Go, Java or Node.js.
• Write clean, efficient, well‑documented code following best engineering practices.
• Troubleshoot, debug and optimise existing codebases for performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions and architectural planning.
• Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from concept through testing and deployment.
• Collaborate closely with product, design and other engineering teams in a remote, agile environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience developing software with one or more of the listed languages.
• Demonstrated ability to build scalable, reliable and maintainable systems.
• Experience working remotely in collaborative, agile teams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
