Back End Engineer

About the role

Barstool Sports is seeking a Back End Engineer to own, maintain, and enhance features across a variety of projects that power our cross‑platform experience for users and editorial staff.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑traffic production services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Design, implement, and document RESTful APIs used by internal and external teams.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business goals into technical solutions.
• Write stable, high‑quality code and ensure coverage with unit and integration tests.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and select the best tools for each task.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional experience in JavaScript/TypeScript development.
• Ability to think strategically about product vision and roadmap.
• Self‑motivated, capable of driving projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working with diverse stakeholders.

• Experience with AWS or GCP cloud services
• Serverless architecture and Serverless framework
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts

• Task runners such as Webpack, Gulp, Grunt, NPM
