Avionics Technician - Customs & Border Protection

About the role

Amentum is recruiting an Avionics Technician for Customs & Border Protection (CBP). The technician installs, inspects, tests, adjusts and repairs avionics equipment such as radar, communications, navigation and instrument systems on CBP aircraft. Work takes place in aircraft maintenance shops, hangars and on the flight line.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair and modify avionics, electrical and instrumentation systems on aircraft.
• Solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals, technical documents and drawings.
• Use test equipment such as multi-trace oscilloscopes, frequency counters and multimeters for troubleshooting and operational checks.
• Remove, repair, install and inspect system components, and repair or replace them according to blueprints, schematics and handbooks.
• Maintain aircraft logs and records and guide less experienced technicians on maintenance and modifications.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of aircraft avionics or electrical-related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US citizenship required).
• Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English, and basic computer data-entry skills for the CBP maintenance and logistics database.
• Physical demands: prolonged sitting, standing and walking, lifting up to 70 pounds, exposure to noise, temperature extremes, chemicals and possible electrical shock; shift work and variable weather conditions.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems and their operational limits.
• Detailed knowledge of maintenance and technical manuals, special tools and test equipment.
• Thorough working knowledge of corrosion detection, prevention and treatment.
