Autonomous Vehicle Operator – AM Shift (12‑Month)

About the role

Nuro is seeking motivated individuals to operate its autonomous test vehicles in Los Angeles. The role combines manual and autonomous driving, data collection, and real‑time troubleshooting to help train and improve self‑driving technology.

Key responsibilities

• Drive autonomous test vehicles up to 8 hours per day in varied traffic conditions, switching between manual and autonomous modes.
• Use Nuro’s proprietary software to capture operational data and provide precise feedback to engineering teams.
• Perform pre‑ and post‑mission vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks such as tire inflation and washing.
• Troubleshoot issues on the spot and coordinate with the Mission Operations dispatch team to meet mileage targets.
• Occasionally interact with the public to explain autonomous vehicle behavior and act as a company ambassador during high‑profile ride‑alongs.

Required profile

• Strong sense of personal accountability and commitment to safety.
• Ability to pass multiple training checkpoints, both in‑vehicle and classroom‑based.
• Comfortable working in diverse traffic environments for extended periods.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with the public and senior stakeholders.
