Automotive Technology Program Director

About the role

The Automotive Technology Program Director leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of automotive technology programs across West Georgia Technical College campuses. This senior academic position combines curriculum oversight, faculty management, and hands‑on instruction to ensure high‑quality, accredited training for students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update automotive curricula to meet accreditation and industry standards.
• Teach a minimum of 20 contact hours per semester in classroom, lab, hybrid, or online formats.
• Advise students on academic progress, career pathways, and job placement.
• Manage program budget, equipment procurement, and supply inventories.
• Supervise adjunct faculty, conduct performance evaluations, and support professional development.
• Coordinate recruitment, retention, and placement initiatives with college partners.
• Maintain compliance documentation, reports, and participation in college committees.

Required profile

• Diploma in Automotive Technology or related field from an accredited institution.
• At least three years recent automotive experience and three years supervisory experience.
• Master Technician ASE certification (or eligibility) required within one year of hire.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and student success.

Required skills

• ASE Master Technician certification.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using Blackboard, Banner, Degree Works, and Task Stream.
• Familiarity with internet and email communication tools.
